“Then he (Jesus) told them many things in parables…”
~ Matthew 13:3

For thousands of years stories have been beautifully told on a stage. Our Theater classes create a space for students to use their God-given talents to act, sing, and dance in front of live audiences. Drama allows for creativity and imagination to absolutely overflow - skills needed in workplaces, communities, and personal lives.

+ LOWER SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES

All Lower School students in 2nd-5th grade have the opportunity to audition for speaking parts and solos in the annual Lower School Play. Music practices for the play are held before school on late start Wednesdays throughout the fall, while the acting portion of the play is rehearsed on Thursday afternoons. This play allows our youngest students to dive into acting and singing while sharing the Gospel with our community. For more information on the Lower School play, contact our Music/Band Director Melissa Farr.

+ MIDDLE SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES

7th and 8th grade students can take the Middle School Broadway Class as an elective and audition for parts in the middle school musical production. Past performances have included shows such as Beauty and the Beast and Annie! For more information on our Broadway class, contact Cheryl Ingle.

+ HIGH SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES

High School students taking Theater in the fall will have an opportunity to compete in the GHSA One Act Play competition, as well as performing for the public. Full musical productions are performed in the spring with various showtimes. Past performers have thrilled audiences with spring shows like The Little Mermaid, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, High School Musical, and Into The Woods. For more information on our high school opportunities, contact Cheryl Ingle.

LCA is proud to have received several theater awards in recent years including Best Supporting Actress at the GHSA Region One Act Play competition, several Best Actress and Actor nods at GISA Region One Act Play competitions, and a 3rd place ranking at the GISA State One-Act Play competition in 2018.
